Every MJ Woodcraft piece is made to last—but like anything beautiful, it needs a little care to stay that way.
After each use, simply wipe your board with a damp cloth. If needed, use mild soap and warm water, then dry it immediately with a clean towel. Never soak it or put it in the dishwasher—wood doesn’t like extremes.
From time to time, your board will appreciate a little nourishment. When the surface begins to look dry or lose its sheen, apply a food-safe mineral oil or board conditioner. Let it soak in overnight, then wipe away any excess. I use a natural orange wax blend for added protection and a soft, citrusy finish.
Store your board flat, away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Avoid overly humid environments, which can cause warping or cracking over time.
Like any handcrafted item, a bit of wear adds character. Small scratches or marks can be gently sanded out and re-oiled if desired—but they also serve as a record of use, love, and time. I see them as part of the story.
