Edelman’s 2025 Trust Barometer: Companies are the cornerstone of social stability

6 de June, 2025

EDC has released the 2025 Trust Barometer — a global study that reveals how trust lies at the heart of economic performance and social cohesion.

The 2025 edition highlights an increasingly divided world, where trust in institutions varies significantly among social groups. In an environment marked by artificial intelligence, climate change, and geopolitical conflicts, the role of businesses takes on new significance: they are seen as the only institutions considered both competent and ethical.

According to the study, citizens trust their direct employers more than they do governments, the media, or NGOs. Business leadership is now expected to serve as a unifying force and a source of stability, especially in combating polarization and misinformation. However, this trust comes with a condition: companies cannot ignore sensitive issues, or they risk losing their relevance and legitimacy.
